Paper Weaving Halloween Style!

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!

I see I've let September slip by....  Already the 21st, it's just going by WAY too fast!   I am participating in the Make it Monday #180 - Paper Weaving!  I remember doing this in elementary school, making paper baskets!  It does make a pretty sweet background!

You can watch the video here!  And once again, this is from one of my favorite blogs - Capture the Moment.  Here is my card:

Well I did my paper weaving with Stampin' Ups! Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper.
I used a Basic Black base, and the colors are Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.

Aren't those faces adorable, the ghosts are from the Happy Haunting Stamp Set from Papertrey Ink.

In this stamp set, you get the ghost outline, or you can stamp a solid colored ghost, and you get a great variety of eyes and mouths to create these really cute expressions!!  I embellished with an orange polka dot bow and some black sequins from Pretty Pink Posh!

This paper weaving turned out really bright and bold, the perfect background for these
NOT scary but full of personality ghosts!!

Here is the inside of the card, Happy Halloweeny!!!  (oops, it's still September!!)

Thank you for stopping by my blog today, and have a fabulous "rest of the day"!!

Back to School!

Hi and Happy Tuesday to you!

Today is back to school for my Grandson, Ryan!  He is starting 1st grade today, and has said that he wants to be a Navy Seal when he grows up!  Ummmmmm, if he is a Navy Seal Gramma will be right there to wrap him in bubble wrap before he goes off for duty!!  Here's my little sweetheart, his mommy did the little chalk board (how cute is that?!?!).

I'm participating in the Make it Monday #178, Back to School Easel Card!   Yep, it matches the picture of my sweet Grandson, with his chalk board easel!!  Check out the video for the Chalk Board Easel Card!  Then go check out all the cards on the Capture the Moment Blog.

Here's my card:

I love the chalk board look!   The stamp set is from Papertrey Ink, it is appropriately called Back to School.

The chalk board look is so cool because it really looks like a chalked up board!  Kinda reminds me of school many, many, many years ago!!

I used white embossing powder, and pool party embossing powder, l o v i n g the pool party powder!!

The colors used are Chalkboard, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Crisp Cantaloupe..  I think they look fresh together for this pastel card!!

Oh!  And I had to add a few sequins for embellishment!  Love those sequins!

And a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my lovely DIL, Bethany!!  I LOVE YOU!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope this Easel Card got you in the back to school mood!!
AND it's also September 2 (can't believe it's September!) - I just feel so cozy, the beginning of fall, even tho it will be back up in the mid-90s by the end of the week!!

Have a fabulous day!

May Today Be Sweet...

Well Happy Wednesday!

It amazes me how I miss crafting when I am away from home....  It's just such a part of who I am, and that's a good thing!  So I am back from visiting my grandchildren in Washington..  It was an awesome visit, and my best girlfriend came up to visit also...  I'll share our activities on my next blog.

Today I am participating in Make it Monday #177 - Using Cover Plate Negatives.  Click on the Make it Monday link and you will see the video and sample cards on the Capture the Moment blog.

I'm using a die that is actually a coverplate and usually covers the 4.25 x 5.50 card.  I've used some of the negative pieces, which are the yellow rectangles, here's my card:

The colors I'm using are Daffodil Delight and Crumb Cake with the bowl white embossed.

This was a pretty quick card!  I used the kitchen fresh Bowl of Sunshine Stamp Set.  Love the lemons and the Corning Ware looking bowls.

I sprinkled a few yellow sequins on the card, the sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.

With the embossed bowl, the sequins, the white brads and the daffodil delight rectangles, I've added some texture to the card.  There's also a yellow "twine" bow on the bowl.

I hope you enjoy this lemon fresh card today, and that your TODAY is sweet!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today and enjoy the rest of your week!
Try to create something everyday, it's kind of therapeutic!!

Ballet Days.....

Hi and Happy Monday to you!!

I'm participating in the Capture the Moment Make it Monday #176 - Backgrounds with Embossing Paste.  If you click on the Capture the Moment link above, you can see the beautiful samples and the  instruction video.  Learn a new technique for backgrounds!

I didn't color my background but I DID sprinkle tons of glitter on the paste!   It's really sparkly!  This technique of using embossing paste really adds some texture to your designs!
Here is my card:

I think I am in love with all of my stamps..   This little ballerina is from Papertrey Ink and it's the Ballerina Beauty Mini Stamp Set.

How cute is she?  I need to make more of these cards in different colors, my grand daughter would love her in purple!

The flower stamp is from the same set, they are colored with a blush pink marker and glued and glittered!  You either love it or you hate it, but I am a glitter lover!!  And the Dance and Twirl Birthday Girl greeting?!?!?!  Cuteness overload!

She has a glittered skirt, and three rhinestones as added embellishment!

You can see a little bit more sparkle here in this photo, I just loved this technique AND this adorable stamp set!

Thank you for stopping by today, I'll be up visiting my grandkids for a week, so I probably won't post for a week, but will be back later next week!

Have a great week!

Make it Monday (on Friday!)

Well Hello There!!

My how time flies!  It's been six months since I've posted a card to stamp. craft. pin.!  I'm back for a spell!!

I love creating and I try to be creative every day!  I'm going to start blogging my cards again AND I will be adding some goodies to my etsy shop - Schalk's Card Schoppe!

This week I created a card for Capture the Moment's Make it Monday,  Creating Card Borders Using
Non-Border Dies......oh, well I fussy cut my border, I didn't use a die, but it still works!!

You can see the video here (from Capture the Moment):  Make it Monday #175.

Here is the card on the video, it's so cute, I love the apple border:

And here is the card I made:

The Designer Series Paper is Lullaby by Stampin' Up!.  The butterfly and the greeting is also from
Stampin' Up!, it's from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set (one of my favorite new sets).

For this card I stamped the flowers on the Designer Series Paper and cut them out to create the floral edge.  I then stamped and cut out more flowers and layered them with leaves from the same Papertrey Ink stamp set.  I stamped the butterfly on DSP and used the butterfly punch to set that butterfly free!!

"A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way" is from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set, it is stamped in Hello Honey.  The other colors used are Pistachio Pudding, Whisper White and Crisp Cantaloupe - all from Stampin' Up!  I didn't think this card was going to make it after I cut the flower border, but the more layers of leaves and flowers I added, the more I liked it!
I hope you enjoy my Make it Monday card!
Thank you for stopping by today!!  Have a fabulous weekend!!

I love the bright Spring colors and the CUTE NEW stamps sets!!  I used Circle Scribbles Stamp Set first, and created a background on the Whisper White card stock.  Then using the matching die and the Sweet Speech Stamp Set I stamped the Hello.....oh. my. goodness!!

I love the font on the Sweet Speech stamp set, so very a d o r a b l e!!!  And those little flowers and leaves......

i carry your heart with me......

Oooohhh  Happy Super Bowl Sunday to you!  Today I just want to see the trailer for the continuation of my favorite show "24" with Jack Bauer (aka Kiefer Sutherland)!!  Oh and the commercials too!!  I did see a cute one with puppies and one of the Budweiser clydesdales!  Sooooooo cute!!  And I just love those big, strong clydesdales!  So enjoy the Super Bowl!!

On to bigger and better things!  Rubber-stamping, paper-crafting!!  Yay!  Today I am participating in Papertrey Ink's Capture the Moment - Make it Monday #150 - Window Screen Cards!  Whew!  I like this idea, using a die to make a window screen, it really adds some texture to the card!!  Here is Melissa Phillip's card:

How pretty is this?  I just love all of Melissa's creations!  She's kinda shabby chic with lots of romance!!  She used a heart shaped window and I love the die she used inside!!  And the frame around the heart, just lovely!  Annnnndddd  here is my card:

I used a rectangular shaped window with the Hearts Die by Papertrey Ink on the inside...  Perfect for Valentine's Day!

After you use the hearts die, you have all of these little hearts just waiting to be stamped!  Using Pretty in Pink and Strawberry Slush inks, I stamped with the coordinating Happy Hearts stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

I off-set the stamped hearts to keep things interesting!  Then, using - The Best is Yet to Be stamp set from Papertrey Ink, I stamped the sentiment, "I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart) e.e. cummings".
This is my favorite poem, I think I first heard it in the movie "In Her Shoes" and had to look it up.  I then shared it with my brother when his wife passed away from cancer, he loved it and carried it in his wallet.....  I think the love felt in this poem can be a romantic love, or a very strong love you have for anyone in your life, spouse, child, sibling, grandchild, mom, dad, friend, etc.....

The sentiment is stamped on a die from American Crafts.  It just happened to be perfect for this card!!

I added a little bit of ribbon, to add some shabbiness and romance..

And then I took a ton of pictures, every view possible, because I like to take pictures of pretty things.... :-)

And here is the inside, another nice sentiment, "Grow old with me, the best is yet to be - Robert Browning", another good one!!  And finished it off with Happy Valentine's Day!

I like the way it turned out, and I hope you do too!
And I had some left over cake pop dough, SOOOOOOO I had to make some heart cakepops!  Now these were super yummy, I don't know what it was about them, maybe because they're really big, but they were good!!  And of course you have to add sprinkles!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!  Yummy!

Well thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!  Enjoy the super bowl and see ya soon!!

Pink, pink, PINK!!

Well Hello & Happy New Year!

Here it is almost the end of January!  Time is flying and I've neglected my blog!  Well I'm back today with a card for the Papertrey Ink blog hop..  The challenge is to create a card using only PINK (shades of pink) - with the option to use neutrals (I chose black).  Here is the photo for inspiration:

This inspiration photo just makes me happy!  I think I love pink!  So - here is my card:

I used a new stamp set from Papertrey Ink called Doodlie-do!!  It's full of awesome doodled flowers, leaves and some lovely sentiments in a very cool font!  LOVE!!

First I die-cut the flowers and leaves from Designer papers, then I stamped the flowers and leaves and embellished with glitter!  I love a sparkly black glitter, and on the newsprint flower I used a chunky clear glitter....  I am a glitter girl!!

I'm pretty happy with the way the card turned out, and I'm loving the pink and black together, and newsprint, always a favorite!

Here's a close-up showing the details, I think this is going to be a fun stamp set!!  Today I also tried my hand at making cakepops..  I love to make them, but sometimes have trouble getting the chocolate melted just right!  A friend requested some "Olaf" cakepops, the snowman from the Disney movie "Frozen".
Here they are:

Well thank you for stopping by my blog today!  Make sure you check out all the  beautiful PINK cards at the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - January 2014!!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
