Cornbread Casserole & a Card

Ooh it's Monday again!  Today I'm sharing a card and a casserole.  First the card, Home is Where the Heart Lives -

The stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farms Rubber Stamps.  This set is called Primitive Beginnings, it's from 2008 and may not be available any longer.  I love this look, there are also some sheep, trees, stars and sayings with that country charm, and Country Charm is one of the sayings.

The brown roses are pretty unique, they are attatched to the tulle, I cut off the tulle on top of the roses, but let the bottom hang for a curtain-y look.

The colors I used are Early Espresso, Pool Party (again) and this printed paper is a saffron-ish yellow.  I seem to be using this color combo quite often.  I hope you like the card and now on to the casserole - Tracey's Cornbread Casserole, by far the BEST I have ever tasted....

Here are the ingredients, the recipe calls for an 8 oz. can of corn, but I used a 16 oz. can, along with the 16 oz. can of creamed corn.

First melt the butter, yes butter, in the microwave and then add all the ingredients.  Mix it well.

Pour into a 9" x 9" pan and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes...

Let is stand for 15 minutes before you dig in.....Everybody will want seconds, it is delicious!  Let me know how you like it!

My sister made this a few weeks ago, and we all loved it, it is Tracey's recipe...Tracey was one of sister's best friends, and she left us way too early....

Thank you for stopping by today, and please stop by again tomorrow!

Triple Teapot Card

Hello!  I hope you had a good Saturday!  Today I have a pretty card with teapots....I don't even remember when I got this stamp, but I think it was during one of our road trips.  The stamp is a Serendipity 2001 stamp.  I took a few pictures of the finished card, with different views.

I wanted to do the challenge from the The Shabby Tea Room which has been one of my favorite blogs.  This photo is to be used for inspiration of color, adding ribbon or lace and flowers.

The colors I used are Pear Pizzaz, Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Peach Parfait.  I used plenty of the wrinkled seam binding ribbon, kind of a shabby chic look.  And you can't really see it, but there is a splash of glitter on the teapots!

Side view to show the layers.  The flowers along the bottom are made with a SU! punch, and the printed paper are also SU! In colors from 2011.

And here's a close up of the bow, added a little green tulle, paper flowers and a pearl!  I hope you enjoyed this card, it was really fun to make.  Thank you for stopping by, and hope to see you again tomorrow!  Have a blessed Sunday...

Do NOT try this at home! {and a cute card}

Hi!  Hope Saturday is going well for you...A few weeks ago I made the mistake of cutting up some tortilla shells and frying them because I needed (had to have) some chips.  I was making a copy cat Chipotle dish with vegetarian crock pot pinto beans, and we just needed some chips to go with it...
Don't do it!  DO NOT fry chips at home.  IF you do, you will never use the convenience of buying a bag of chips at the store again!!!!!  I made the chips again today, because I had avocados that HAD to be used...  There's nothing like homemade guacamole EXCEPT homemade chips!!  I really don't know if I can use the bagged chips anymore, these turn out so good!  Here's a few pictures of the items that sent me over the moon (can food do that?)...

Bad, bad me.  My bad.

Who does this??  WHO takes pictures of homemade chips, and then sneaks in a little bit of the guacamole and the salt shaker in at the top of the photo to try to be creative.

The same strange person then took a picture of the home-made guacamole with fresh chopped purple onion, and you know what's coming next, right?

Yes, the homemade chips and the homemade guacamole - ready to be devoured by someone who takes pictures of food!  YUMMY!!!

Anyway, this blog is about Stamping, Crafting and Pinning!! So here is a cute card to top off the chips and guacamole -

The colors used are Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade.  Don't you just love the names of the colors!  Enjoy!  Have a great weekend.

Tea Shoppe Stamping..

Hi - Happy Friday!!  Are you ready for the weekend!  I surely am!  On Sunday I am taking a stamp class, so I'm really looking forward to that!  More about that on Sunday or Monday.  Today I have "A Cup of Thanks" thank-you card.  We always need thank-you cards and this one is a lovely Wisteria Wonder lavender with a hint of Basic Black.

This card is made with the Stampin' Up! stamp set "Tea Shoppe", you can see it here:  http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=125545.  I love all things tea, tea cups, tea pots, hot tea, iced tea, tea parties and anytime I have an opportunity to have tea in a tea house, I really try to do so!  There's a place in downtown Orange I need to try called Paris in a Cup http://www.parisinacup.com/!

Just a last little detail, the teacups are sprinkled with a bit of glitter, and the flower centers are mini pearls (ha ha for those of you old enough to remember, Minnie Pearl), just a little funny!

Remember her?  Hee hee!  Have a great weekend!

Creative Block?

Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for stopping by today..  Have you ever had a Creative Block?  It's kind of like a Writer's block, you just can't get the creative juices flowing!  In the Stamping world we use something called "case-ing" - CASE - Copy and Share Everything, which is pretty much what everybody is doing these days!  Suppose I had a Creative Block, one place I would get crafting ideas is from the Stampin' Up! catalog http://www.stampinup.com/us/enu/22124.asp.  As I was browsing the catalog I found this card I decided to CASE:

This card is using Stampin' Ups! Creative Elements stamp set again..I am really enjoying this set, and I love the butterfly stamp..  I wanted to make it with the supplies I have on hand and here is what I came up with:

I changed up the color a bit, made it a bit brighter and used the IN Colors, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral....but I stayed along the lines of the catalog card.....It just gets your ideas flowing, and you make it your own!!
Another place to get your creative ideas going is Pinterest, I'm tellin' ya, there are so many stamping and paper crafting ideas on there, after I've looked and pinned, I can't wait to get stamping!!  Check out my Pinterest Stamping and Paper Crafting Board http://pinterest.com/schalking/, go ahead, follow me, it's the first board there!!   One more question, is anybody reading this blog?
Have a great day, please stop by again tomorrow!

Put a Bird on it...

Happy  Monday?!   Sure, let's make it happy with a sweet Bird on a Card.....My son was telling me something about "put a bird on it", making a comment under his breath, kinda making fun of all the bird decor I think...My DIL and I love birds as decor, and birds used in crafting, heck, the cute little birds are all over the place!!
My cards today use the Elegant Bird die from Stampin' Up!...I've had it for a few months, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but I DO like this little bird, and I think she makes a cute card.

I also used the Creative Elements stamp set again, I really like the butterfly stamp all glittered up!
Here's another "bird" card using Pool Party card stock again, I love that light aqua blue!

I hope you enjoy these bird cards today, enjoy your Monday and thank you for stopping by!!

Ella Bella

This is my sweet Ella Bella, she will be 2 the end of May.  She is Miss Sassypants, and Miss Independent!  She doesn't want anyone to help her with anything, she wants to do it herself..  She is a little sweet pea, and her Gramma loves her so much!  So my card today was made for my Ella Bella.

I used this little tutu stamp, and added some tulle to the skirt, and some pearls to the top part....I tried to give it the shabby chic look.

Don't you just love the wood plank look, it's paper, and I love it, it looks like real wood.....I'm using Pool Party card stock and pearls, pearls, pearls, with a little bit more tulle, wrinkled ribbon and a button.

Alittle bit closer...with an I love you Ella...

And a side view, because I like to take and play with photos.  :-)
Thank you for stopping by, and have a lovely weekend!

And here's a close-up - because I like close-ups :)

Here's a pic of  the wrinkled ribbon (gives a great shabby look!) I purchased from Prairie Bird Boutique http://www.etsy.com/shop/PrairieBirdBoutique (because I love pics of pretty stuff and wanted to share):

Is summer here yet?

This SU! stamp set "Mouthwatering" is the perfect summer stamp set.  You can stamp ice cream cones, cherries, popsicles and lemon, lime or orange slices!  You can check it out the stamp set here: http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=125677
I fell in love with the craft of rubber stamping almost 20 years ago! When my son was younger, we did alot of road trips all over the United States. My husband would make sure we stopped at the stamp or scrapbooking stores in some of the towns we drove through (we mapped them out, there were many more stamp stores back then)!  Of course this would sometimes take travel  hours out of our days, but nobody seemed to mind, and I have quite a collection of rubber stamps from all over!!  I love creating, here's what I have to share with you today!

The SU! Colors used are So Saffron, Lucky Limeade and Peach Parfait!
This next card I used Daffodil Delight (a brighter yellow) and Lucky Limeade again, a luscious green!

The next card is very simple, I used the Beautiful Wings embosslits die http://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=118138 to get the cute butterfilies, and I tied ribbon around where their body should be...  I used the Crumb Cake card stock...oh and I also used the Distressed Dots background stamp (one of my favorites).

I hope you enjoy these cards today!   Thanks for stopping by, and please come back again tomorrow!!

Ohhhh it's Monday again!

Happy Monday, back to work day, back to the grind, only 4 more days till Friday!!  Today I have some cards and a treat I made for the Stampin' Up! convention in 2010.  Alot of the demonstrators for SU! make 100s of cards or treats or samples of some sort to trade with other demonstrators...This way we build up tons of samples to show at workshops....Some are full size cards, some are card fronts only, some are 3 x 3 and some are called 3D....They usually include a treat of some sort..Some of the demos also do scrap-booking swaps, 12 x 12, 6 x 6 and 8 1/2 x 11.....Here's what I did in 2010, the first is a little treat, an ice cream cone tag, with ice cream flavored jelly bellys...

This next card was made using the Awash with Flowers stamp set, I love the colors...kind of reminds me of the California poppies...

I also made bookmarks, I love the bright colors and the butterflies..This year I'm in a bookmark swap, so I'll have lots of beautiful bookmarks I can add to birthday cards!  YAY!!

Have a wonderful day, and thank you for stopping by!  Tomorrow I will share some more cards!  Oh and if you want to see TONS of beautiful stamped and paper-crafted cards (from lots of different blogs), check me out on Pinterest, hit the "Follow me on Pinterest" button.....

The Hound Show...

Today I went to the Hound Classic by Irvine Lake.  My mom's whippet, Bella was in the show and she is a classic beauty...Whippets are the sweetest dogs, they have these long limbs and love to run, but as pets they love to cuddle up on your lap and keep you warm...
I had to do a whippet card honoring Bella :-)   Please note her collar, yesssss it's pearls..(hee hee!)...And the perfect greeting for this whippet card is none other than "Woof!"....

I also wanted to show a little detail, so I took a close-up...

You can see the little pearl collar with the heart, and the pearls and ribbon wrapped around the greeting - I think the details make the card, I hope you like it!
Now for the real deal, beautiful Bella:

And Bella in action:

Annnnnnd last but not least my sweet mom and my adorable niece Olivia, she stayed with her Grandma all day!!

I hope you enjoyed this little trip to the dog show!!  I did, and I may be going back to spend more time with my mom!  Thank you for stopping by my blog, and I'll be back tomorrow!!

Dog Day Afternoon...

Finally - it's Friday!  I'm writing this post while it's still dry outside, but it sure looks like rain!!   I'm planning on going to a dog show in the morning, going to take some pictures of my mom's whippet, Bella (yes, named after the Twilight series).  So my card today is a dog card using the Stampin' Up's -
D is for Dog set.....I love the little dog bone!  This is dedicated to all the dog lovers out there!

Thank you for stopping by!

Mixed Bunch..

Happy Thursday!!  Today I have 2 bright floral cards using a Stampin' Up! stamp set called Mixed Bunch and the punch that goes with it called Blossom....These are in the Occasions Mini Catalog which can be ordered from through April 30.  I'm really liking the Crumb Cake card stock (kraft), I'm also using the Poppy Parade, Calypso Coral and Not Quite Navy cardstock.  The color blending idea came from a gift bag I saw at Target!  Love these colors together!

Here I used Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Poppy Parade and a touch of Soft Suede cardstock.

Seam binding seems to be real popular amongst many crafters, and the wrinkled ribbon has such a vintagey look...
Thanks again for stopping by, see ya Friday!
